Vices
The project was initially inspired by "The First Intellectual" by Yang Fudong. It plays with the idea of the working class of China reflecting on their current mental state and becoming enraged at society. I often find myself wanting to photograph salarymen or the working class while they are doing mundane activities. For some reason, it feels very out of place and interesting to me. So for this project, the concept is to show the vices of these working-class people. The narrative is documenting their chosen escapes. You often see in East Asia where drinking and smoking are huge parts of business meetings, and often it is rude to refuse a drink or a smoke during a business dinner.
